Motorcyclist killed, 13 Injured in three-vehicle crash in Alicia, Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A motorcycle driver was killed while 13 other people were injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a passenger bus, a tourist van, and a motorcycle in the town of Alicia on Thursday morning, June 25.

The fatality was identified as Alberto Muring, a resident of Alicia.

According to the initial investigation conducted by Police Staff Sergeant Jonas Rey Bersano, a Southern Star Bus driven by 53-year-old Luis Andoy Naquilla of Calape was traveling toward Candijay town at around 8 a.m. when it collided with a tourist van at an intersection.

The tourist van was being driven by Lyl Lepetin, 38, a resident of Loon.
Investigators said the bus and the van collided upon reaching the intersection.

The impact of the crash caused the bus to veer into the opposite lane, where it struck Muring, who was seated on his parked motorcycle along the roadside.

Muring sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The collision also injured two passengers of the bus and 11 passengers of the tourist van, all of whom were tourists. The van driver was likewise injured.

The victims were brought to a hospital for medical treatment and observation.

Police have taken the bus driver into custody as authorities continue their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
