MABINI, Bohol — Board Member Nathaniel Binlod on Thursday conducted an ocular inspection and on-site investigation of portions of the Mabini–Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) following the circulation of a viral video alleging substandard construction of a lateral canal.
Binlod visited Barangays Abaca and San Roque in Mabini to personally assess the condition of the irrigation infrastructure and verify concerns raised in the video that gained attention on social media.
It was inaugurated last Monday, June 22 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
During the inspection, the provincial legislator examined sections of the lateral canal and gathered information from residents and stakeholders in the affected communities regarding the reported issues.
The visit was aimed at determining the actual condition of the project and ensuring that concerns raised by the public are properly addressed through appropriate government channels.
The Mabini–Cayacay SRIP is a major irrigation project designed to provide a reliable water supply to agricultural areas in the municipalities of Mabini and Alicia. The project is expected to benefit farming communities by improving irrigation services and boosting agricultural productivity.
The viral video prompted public discussion over the quality of the canal’s construction, leading local officials to conduct inspections and seek clarification on the matter.
As of posting time, concerned agencies have yet to release the results of any technical assessment regarding the allegations. Authorities are expected to continue evaluating the condition of the irrigation facility and determine whether corrective measures are necessary.
