TAGBILARAN CITY — Boholano runner Jhul Ian G. Cañalita once again proved his dominance on the track after winning the gold medal in the Secondary Boys 5,000-meter run at the Palarong Pambansa 2026.
Known as the “Golden Boy of Bohol,” Cañalita of Tabuan National High School delivered another impressive performance while representing Central Visayas in the country’s premier national school sports competition organized by the Department of Education.
The young distance runner showcased exceptional endurance, disciplined pacing, and a powerful finishing kick to successfully defend his title in the grueling 5,000-meter event.
With the victory, Cañalita secured a back-to-back gold medal finish for Central Visayas in the annual national meet being held in Agusan del Sur.
Sports supporters and fellow Boholanos lauded the athlete’s determination and consistency, saying his latest triumph further cemented his reputation as one of the province’s top young track stars.
Cañalita’s achievement also added to Bohol’s growing medal haul and brought pride to both Tabuan National High School and the Central Visayas delegation in this year’s Palarong Pambansa.
