Clarin town offers P50,000 reward for info on slain village councilor’s killer

TAGBILARAN CITY — The municipal government of Clarin has offered a P50,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect behind the killing of Barangay Councilor Marino Montojo.

In an official statement released on Monday, the local government strongly condemned the fatal shooting of Montojo, which happened Sunday at the Clarin Cockpit Arena.

Authorities said Montojo, an elected village councilor of Barangay Caluwasan, was shot dead outside the cockpit arena.

The municipal government expressed sympathy to the victim’s family and assured the public that the incident is being taken seriously.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the victim during this difficult and painful time,” the statement read.

The local government also appealed to residents to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and encouraged witnesses or individuals with relevant information to come forward.

“To encourage public assistance, the Municipal Government is offering a P50,000 reward to anyone who can provide credible information that will lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect(s) involved in this crime,” the statement added.

Officials assured that all information shared with authorities would be treated with strict confidentiality.
The municipal government urged the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation while pursuing justice through due process.
