HVI nabbed, P315K worth of shabu seized in Ubay buy-bust

UBAY, Bohol — A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested while suspected shabu worth over P315,000 was confiscated in a buy-bust operation conducted Tuesday night, April 21, 2026, in Purok 2, Barangay Casate, this town.

Operatives of the Ubay Municipal Police Station’s Municipal Drug Enforcement Team (MDET), under the leadership of Police Major Neon Francis Alvarez, carried out the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect identified only as alias “Rei,” 31, who is listed among watchlisted drug personalities.

Authorities said the suspect was considered an HVI due to the scale of his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Seized during the operation were approximately 46.42 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P315,656, along with a marked P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and was based on intelligence-driven efforts aimed at curbing illegal drug activities in the area.

The suspect is currently detained at the Ubay police lock-up facility while charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 are being prepared.

Police authorities in Ubay expressed gratitude to the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperative in the campaign for a drug-free and safer community.
