Non-residents of Antequera are no longer allowed to buy and sell goods in town starting today, July 25.
The local government unit of Antequera prohibited non-residents to sell or barter their products during”tabo” (market day) on Sunday due to the ongoing threat of the global coronavirus pandemic.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Lilioso M. Nunag said this was to ensure the safety of all those visiting and operating the market after a resident of Barangay Bantolinao
tested positive for the novel coronavirus in rapid test.
“Atong gi-pahibalo nga sugod ugma puhon, Sabado, labi na sa DOMINGO, HULYO 26, 2020 adlaw sa TABO, gidid-an na ang DILI TAGA ANTEQUERA sa pagpaninda ug pagpanabo sa atong merkado publiko aron malikayan ang pagkuyanap sa COVID-19 labi na nga aduna na kitay community transmission nga positibo sa Rapid Test nga taga Bantolinao,” Nunag said.
Nunag asked his constituents to bring their home quarantine pass.
Hailed the Basket Capital of Bohol, basket weaving has been the municipality’s main industry for years. Most of their products are exported to other countries and the Sunday basket market serves as a venue for prospective clients to check out the different hand made wares.
Meanwhile, the local government unit of Cortes also prohibited non-residents to sell products at Cortes Public Market on Saturday, July 25, after a couple who are vendors in the market tested positive in rapid test.
