JAGNA, Bohol — A total of 2,664 kilograms of “mamsa” (trevally) were harvested on Monday, April 13, from the Lambaklad Project of the Jagna Alejawan Fisherfolk Association (Jafa) in Barangay Alejawan.
The early morning harvest, which began around 5 a.m., was carried out through the collective effort of the association’s members.
According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar)–Bohol, the total value of the catch is estimated to reach nearly P800,000.
Members of the association expressed elation over the significant yield.
Jafa president Randy Sumili said the April harvest is their biggest so far.
“Of all our harvests this April, this is the largest. We are thankful to God,” Sumili said.
The Lambaklad Project, worth P3 million, was awarded to the association by Bfar Region 7 in 2021. The site in Barangay Alejawan was identified as suitable for the project following a bathymetry survey conducted by the agency’s technical team.
Bfar-7 said the project is expected to boost fish supply in Jagna and across Bohol, while also providing additional income to the 28-member association and their families.
