TAGBILARAN CITY — Mayor Jane Yap announced that 2,959 registered tricycle drivers in the city will receive P5,000 each in cash relief assistance on Tuesday, April 8, as part of the local government’s support program for transport workers.
The beneficiaries, all registered under the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), will receive the aid at designated payout venues: City Central Elementary School, Ubujan Elementary School, and San Isidro National High School.
Distribution will run in two schedules: from 6 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
To ensure an orderly and efficient payout, the city government will implement a digital queuing system aimed at reducing long lines and speeding up the process.
Yap said the initiative is a concrete measure to assist tricycle drivers who continue to provide essential transport services despite economic challenges.
“Our drivers are the backbone of our daily commute,” the mayor said, urging beneficiaries to check their assigned schedules through the official list released by the city government.
She also hinted at additional assistance programs for Tagbilaran households, which are expected to be finalized within the week, as the city continues to respond to ongoing economic concerns.
