TAGBILARAN CITY — The municipal government of Talibon will distribute rice assistance to tricycle drivers and operators, as well as fishing and passenger boat operators, in response to rising fuel costs and ongoing economic challenges.

In an advisory, Mayor Janette Garcia said the rice distribution is part of the local government’s effort to ease the financial burden on transport and maritime workers who have already renewed their franchises or permits early.

The distribution is scheduled on March 23, 2026 (Monday) at the Municipal Atrium and will be facilitated through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office.

Qualified beneficiaries include tricycle drivers and operators, along with fishing and passenger boat operators or owners who have secured and signed their Mayor’s Permit as of March 19, 2026.

Beneficiaries are required to present their Mayor’s Permit and one valid identification card to claim the assistance.

According to the mayor, the initiative has been conducted for several years as a modest form of support to help alleviate daily expenses among affected sectors.

Based on records from the municipality’s electronic tracking system for permits, a total of 390 transport and maritime workers are set to receive rice assistance from the municipal government.
This includes 343 tricycle drivers and operators, along with 47 fishing and passenger boat operators or owners.
