TAGBILARAN CITY — The chief of the Tagbilaran City Police Station has been administratively relieved from his post as authorities continue their investigation into a viral video showing an individual allegedly being forcibly taken into a vehicle in Barangay Dao on Monday, March 11, 2026.

In a press statement dated March 18, the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) said the relief took effect on March 16 and is part of efforts to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Judy Mar Bonilla has been designated as officer-in-charge of the Tagbilaran City Police Station to maintain stability and continuity in police operations.

Police Colonel Patricio Degay Jr., BPPO provincial director, said the leadership change is a procedural measure aimed at removing any perception of influence over the ongoing probe.

“By shifting leadership during the investigation, we remove any perception of influence, allowing internal investigators to work with full independence and transparency,” Degay said.

He emphasized that the move is an exercise of command prerogative intended to uphold public trust in the Philippine National Police.

The BPPO assured the public that it is treating the incident with utmost seriousness and remains committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation to establish the full facts surrounding the viral video.
