BACLAYON, Bohol — Six individuals, including five women and one male, were arrested after they were caught allegedly ransacking a house in Barangay Laya, Baclayon on Sunday afternoon, March 15.

According to a police report, the suspects—who identified themselves as garbage collectors from Barangay Tapon, Ubay—had traveled to the area, but authorities later discovered their real intent was to commit theft.

Investigators said the group forcibly broke into the house, which is owned by a British national married to a Filipina.

The owner was reportedly on vacation in England at the time of the incident.

A caretaker had been assigned to the property but was staying at another residence owned by the foreigner in Tagbilaran City.

The suspects were able to take several antique items and other valuables from the house. However, vigilant neighbors noticed the incident and promptly alerted the Baclayon Municipal Police Station.

Responding officers arrested the suspects at the scene and recovered the stolen items in their possession.

The suspects are now under the custody of the Baclayon police as further investigation is ongoing.
