TAGBILARAN CITY — A residential house was gutted by fire along Karaan Street in Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City early Friday morning, March 13.
The fire broke out at around 7:00 a.m., according to SFO1 Dominique De Castro, fire investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Tagbilaran City.
The house was owned by spouses Andreo Vito and Nene Vito.
Authorities said no one was inside the house when the fire started as the occupants had already left at the time of the incident.
Initial investigation by the BFP-Tagbilaran indicated that the fire may have been caused by embers left from cooking in the kitchen. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that a lighted lamp placed on the household altar could have sparked the blaze.
Firefighters said most parts of the house were made of light materials, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly and consume the entire structure.
All belongings inside the house were destroyed, leaving nothing salvageable.
BFP-Tagbilaran estimated the damage at around P10,000.
The incident marks the second recorded fire in the city this month of March.
