DAUIS, Bohol — Dauis Mayor Marietta Tocmo-Sumaylo has pledged to abide by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) process and recognized Vice Mayor Marie Nickie Bolos-Delgado’s authority as mayor, following her dismissal from office.
Sumaylo met with DILG Regional Director Leocadio Trovela in Manila on Tuesday to clarify the municipality’s leadership status. She said she has filed a Motion for Reconsideration before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman earlier found her guilty of gross neglect of duty for allowing a cockpit arena to operate without a valid franchise, ordering her dismissal, perpetual disqualification from public office, and forfeiture of benefits.
Her legal team’s appeal before the Court of Appeals was dismissed due to procedural lapses, including errors in notarization, missing verification statements, and the absence of supporting documents. With no injunction granted, the Ombudsman ruling has taken effect.
Sumaylo called on residents to uphold peace and order and assured that public services in Dauis will continue without interruption.
