TAGBILARAN CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry in Central Visayas has assured the public that prices of basic goods remain stable and supplies are sufficient in Cebu and Bohol despite recent developments in the Middle East.
In an advisory issued on March 6, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 7 said its latest price monitoring showed that basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) continue to have adequate supply across major supermarkets, grocery stores, and other retail establishments in the two provinces.
The agency said retailers are complying with the Suggested Retail Prices (SRP), ensuring that essential goods remain accessible and affordable to consumers.
DTI-7 also urged the public to remain calm and practice responsible purchasing, noting that supply levels and distribution channels remain fully operational and capable of meeting consumer demand.
The agency added that it will continue to closely monitor market developments and coordinate with retailers, distributors, and local government units to ensure fair trade practices and the steady availability of essential goods in the region.
Consumers who observe unreasonable price increases, hoarding, or other unfair trade practices were encouraged to report these incidents to the nearest DTI office.
DTI-7 reiterated its commitment to protect consumers and maintain a fair and stable marketplace in Central Visayas.
