TAGBILARAN CITY — An animal welfare group has offered a P50,000 reward for information that could lead to the identification and prosecution of those behind the reported poisoning of dogs on Pamilacan Island in Baclayon, Bohol.
In a statement, Bohol Animal Rescue and Kindness (Bark), Inc. said another batch of dogs on the island was recently reported poisoned, describing the incidents as recurring and allegedly happening almost every month.
The group condemned the act, saying the repeated poisoning of dogs was not a form of animal population control but an act of cruelty and a violation of animal welfare laws.
According to Bark, poisoned animals reportedly suffered seizures, vomiting, internal bleeding, and prolonged deaths.
The organization also warned that leaving poison in open areas poses risks not only to animals but also to children, residents, and marine life in the community.
Bark is offering a P50,000 reward for credible information that can identify the alleged perpetrator and lead to the filing of a formal case.
The group urged residents with information to come forward and report it privately, assuring that the details will be handled responsibly.
“Violence against animals is often a warning sign of deeper violence in a community,” the organization said as it called on the public to help stop the incidents.
