TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado has offered a P100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect in the recent theft incident involving Taiwanese tourists in Panglao.

Aumentado called on the public to cooperate, saying anyone who can provide credible information that would help authorities identify and apprehend the suspect in the Panglao theft case will receive the cash reward from the provincial government of Bohol.

“Please report to the nearest police station. Your identity will be kept confidential,” the governor said.

The offer came after a Taiwanese tourist couple was robbed Sunday night while dining at a beachfront restaurant in Alona Beach, Panglao.

Initial reports said a man wearing a hoodie approached and sat near the couple, pretending to relax alongside other tourists. When other beachgoers had left, the suspect allegedly looked around, grabbed the couple’s bag placed under their chair, and quickly fled.

The stolen bag contained two passports, credit and debit cards, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and cash in Philippine pesos and US dollars.

The cellphone was later recovered after it was found discarded in a grassy area. Authorities believe it may have been thrown away to avoid tracking.

The restaurant owner assisted the victims, while the Panglao Municipal Police Station has launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspect.
