TAGBILARAN CITY—Police authorities have intensified their manhunt for the suspect behind the robbery of a Taiwanese couple at Alona Beach on Sunday night, Feb. 22.

Investigators are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and gathering additional evidence to identify the man who allegedly took the couple’s bag while they were dining at a beachfront establishment.

The suspect, seen in CCTV footage wearing shorts and a black hoodie, appeared to blend in with other tourists before seizing the opportunity to grab the bag from beneath the couple’s chair when the area had cleared.

Stolen items included two passports, credit and debit cards, cash in Philippine pesos and US dollars, and an iPhone 16 Pro Max. The cellphone was later recovered after it was found abandoned in a grassy area nearby. Authorities believe it may have been discarded to prevent tracking.

Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado earlier announced a P100,000 reward for any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect, assuring the public that informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
