TAGBILARAN CITY — A total of 34 couples sealed their unions in a civil mass wedding held Sunday, February 15, at the City Hall atrium under the city’s annual “Libreng Kasalan sa Tagbilaran” program.

The post-Valentine ceremony followed Saturday’s church rites, where 58 couples exchanged vows at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral-Shrine.

Institutionalized during the administration of former mayor and now Congressman John Geesnell ‘Baba’ Yap II, the program seeks to help couples legalize their relationships without the heavy costs usually associated with weddings.

The City Government provided each pair with a full wedding package, including bridal attire and groom’s wear, wedding rings, styling services, bouquets and corsages, venue setup, photo and video documentation, sound system, and meals for guests and witnesses.

Mayor Jane Yap extended her congratulations to the newlyweds and emphasized the importance of family as the foundation of the community.

She assured that the city would continue the initiative to give couples a meaningful and dignified start to married life.

Aside from the ceremony essentials, the newlyweds also received tokens such as rice cookers, cakes, and wine as part of the city’s support package.
