CEBU CITY — Strengthening its role as a dependable partner in Central Visayas, the Province of Bohol dispatched a second round of assistance to Cebu on Friday, delivering P5 million in financial aid along with two wing vans of relief goods for communities battered by Typhoon Tino.

Governor Aris Aumentado personally turned over the checks — P1 million each — to Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas, Consolacion Mayor Nene Alegado, Compostela Mayor Felijur Quiño, and Danao City Vice Mayor Ivy Durano. Liloan received its assistance through its Treasurer’s Office.

The fresh wave of support comes barely a month after Bohol extended another P5 million to Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro for northern Cebu towns struck by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

Aumentado underscored that the gesture reflects the longstanding spirit of inter-provincial solidarity between the two islands.

“Sa Region 7, SugBohol, Sugbo ug Bohol — we rise together. Magtinabangay gyud ta,” he said.
He recalled how Cebu was among the first to send help after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake devastated Bohol in 2013. “Nakaagi pod ta og sitwasyon nga kita ang nanginahanglan. Dako kaayong tabang ang ilang kita,” he added.

The turnover was witnessed by Provincial Administrator Ace Durano, who conveyed Cebu’s appreciation.

“Dako kaayog pasalamat si Governor Pam sa Bohol. Ang inyong generosity, dakong tabang gyud sa mga Cebuanon,” Durano said.

Alongside the financial aid, Bohol’s donation drive produced two wing vans of essential goods: 69 sacks of rice, 79 sacks and 54 boxes of clothing, hygiene kits, and other items urgently needed by evacuees.

To address mental health needs in evacuation centers, the Bohol Provincial Health Office also deployed a 10-member nursing team to Danao City. Led by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Fruserma Mary Uy and endorsed by the Department of Health, the team will conduct psychosocial first aid, stress debriefing, and trauma assessments over the weekend.
