TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol is no longer under any tropical cyclone wind signals after Tropical Depression Basyang (international name: Penha) weakened into a low pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau reported Saturday morning.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather system downgraded into an LPA at around 2 a.m. on February 7 while it was over the coastal waters of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Prior to weakening, Basyang made landfall twice in Bohol—first in Jagna and later in Dauis—bringing periods of heavy rain across the province and nearby areas over the past two days.
As of 4 a.m. Saturday, Pagasa located the LPA about 105 kilometers southeast of Cuyo, Palawan, moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour.
Pagasa said Bohol may continue to experience cloudy skies with localized rainshowers or thunderstorms beginning Saturday.
