TAGBILARAN CITY — As the New Year’s Eve rush peaked on Wednesday night, Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) Director Col. Patricio  Degay Jr. personally led an inspection of firecracker and pyrotechnic stalls in the town of Dauis to ensure public safety and strict compliance with the law.

At around 6:40 p.m., Degay visited several stalls selling firecrackers and pyrotechnics, checking business permits and verifying that only authorized and regulated products were on display.

The inspection formed part of the Philippine National Police’s intensified measures to prevent firecracker-related injuries and accidents during the holiday celebrations.

Police officials said the provincial director’s on-site inspection highlighted the BPPO’s proactive approach to law enforcement, particularly during high-risk occasions such as New Year festivities.

“This is about protecting lives. Public safety is non-negotiable. Every family deserves a secure and joyful celebration,” Degay said during the inspection.

The BPPO noted that the presence of the provincial director sent a strong message of accountability and discipline within the police force, emphasizing that safety enforcement begins with leadership at the highest level.

PNP Bohol assured the public that similar inspections and monitoring activities will continue across the province as part of its commitment to maintain peace and order and to ensure a safe transition into 2026.
