In a testament to its commitment to providing reliable and efficient service, Bohol Light has successfully connected Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School to the power grid, bringing much-needed electricity to the institution and illuminating the future of its students.

The swift response to Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap’s request for the school’s electrification exemplifies Bohol Light’s dedication to improving the lives of the community. The company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Roel Castro, emphasized the importance of fast and convenient service, stating that this is a hallmark of their operations in Iloilo, Negros, and now Tagbilaran.

“We believe that a modern city needs a modern utility,” Castro said, highlighting the company’s commitment to enhancing services and contributing to the city’s progress. “We cannot have a modern city, and we cannot be aligned sa objectives of the city in bringing it to the next level, bringing new investors, kung hindi tataas ang serbisyo ng utility.”

The electrification of Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School is not just about providing light; it’s about empowering students and teachers with the tools they need to succeed in the 21st century. With electricity comes the ability to access the internet, a vital tool for learning and research.

“These days, kailangan na talaga ang electricity sa schools because of climate change, and I think ang pinaka-importante ang connectivity,” Castro emphasized. “Now that there is electricity, we will make sure that it will be constant. It will always be there. The connectivity, ang internet is already a tool for learning for everyone.”

The school’s principal, Dr. Legardo Palaca, Jr., expressed gratitude for the new electrical connection, calling it a “historical day” for the school family. “Our patience is rewarded because finally, we have a permanent electrical connection,” he said. “May this electrical connection be a reason for us to strive more, to give our best, to the best interest of our students.”

Mayor Yap echoed the sentiment, highlighting the strong partnership between the city government and Bohol Light. “Kaning atong pagpasiga sa atong school is also a testament to our commitment to our education program in Tagbilaran City,” she said. “Bohol Light, you are not only physically lighting up the school and, of course, all the classrooms, but you are also lighting up the future of our students.”
