TAGBILARAN CITY — Breaking away from the traditional closed-door Christmas celebration, the Tagbilaran City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, turned its annual employee holiday party into a city-wide outreach program benefiting day care students.

Instead of holding a single gathering, city employees fanned out to various day care centers across the city, conducting simultaneous gift-giving activities. The initiative brought the Christmas spirit directly to young learners, with each child receiving a meal and a Christmas gift.

Yap said the move was a deliberate effort to make the holiday celebration more meaningful and inclusive. By redirecting resources toward community service, the city government sought to underscore its commitment to nurturing “young Tagbilaranons” and advancing equity through concrete action.

Dubbed a “party with a purpose,” the program shifted the focus from traditional festivities to shared joy and public service, reinforcing the local government’s dedication to social responsibility and compassion during the holiday season.
