TAGBILARAN CITY — The Tagbilaran City Government has postponed the 2025 Christmas Drum and Lyre Competition amid the expected effects of Tropical Depression Wilma and the ongoing surge of the Northeast Monsoon and Shear Line.

The event, originally set for December 7, has been moved to December 14, 2025, following advisories from PAGASA and the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Although Bohol is not under any Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal, PAGASA warned that strong winds and rains will affect the Visayas from December 4 to 6. Seas are also forecast to be rough to very rough, making sea travel risky, especially for small vessels.

Many Jane Yap stressed that many participating contingents from different towns and schools would have to travel long distances, and the weather conditions pose threats of strong winds, heavy rainfall, and dangerous sea conditions.

“This decision prioritizes the safety and well-being of students, teachers, parents, and all participants. Mas importante ang kaluwasan sa tanan,” the mayor said.

Residents are advised to monitor further updates and take necessary precautions.
