Retired broadcaster and media pioneer Jun Daniel dies

Engr. Anastacio “Jun” Daniel Jr, a retired writer, broadcaster, and founder of San Miguel Cable TV News, passed away on Thursday, December 4. His death was confirmed by close friends and colleagues.

“The news of your passing leaves a profound void in our hearts and in the broadcasting community you helped shape,” said Jagna-based journalist Bern Condor. “Your visionary spirit, unwavering dedication, and warmth elevated Jagna’s broadcast industry and inspired countless lives. To me, you were more than a mentor and boss—you were a guiding light and a cherished brother. Rest peacefully, Engr. Jun Daniel.”

Duero Mayor Al Taculad also paid tribute, saying Daniel’s “legacy will continue to echo in every home your stations have served.”

“As Mayor, I express our deepest gratitude for the space he gave us in his radio programs, allowing our LGU to reach our people better, faster, and with a wider voice. His support to public service was not just a courtesy—it was his commitment to community, transparency, and genuine connection,” Taculad wrote in a Facebook post.

Rep. Alexie Besas- Tutor and Candijay Vice Mayor Toper Tutor extended their condolences.

“Engr. Jun usa ka visionary leader sa industriya iyang gipalig-on ang lokal nga media ug komunikasyon pinaagi sa RBN Radyo Jagna, Boholano Broadband, ug San Miguel Cable. Iyang gi-pasayon ang koneksyon sa komunidad ug gi-siguro nga ang impormasyon makaabot bisan sa layo nga barangay, ” said Rep. Tutor.

Daniel, a native of Jagna town, began his career as a writer for the defunct Bohol Sunday Post. He later served as station manager for ABS-CBN in Cotabato and General Santos, and went on to establish the Radyo Bol-anon Network and Boholano Broadband—helping shape local media in Bohol and beyond.
