TAGBILARAN CITY — Roy Erecre, a former consultant of the National Democratic Front (NDF) and former secretary of the Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (NCBS) regional committee of the New People’s Army (NPA), has formally surrendered to authorities.

Erecre, accompanied by his partner Judith Jaron, personally took their oath of allegiance before Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado at the Provincial Capitol, marking their official renunciation of the communist insurgency.

The couple will go through the legal procedures required under the Local Amnesty Program, which facilitates the return of former rebels to the folds of the law.

Aumentado welcomed their surrender, saying it was a “significant move toward peace, unity, and progress” in Bohol and the entire Central Visayas region.

Erecre said he tried to try the amnesty program of Marcos administration.

“Ang dakong factor nga ming surrender tungod sa mingsalig ko ni Gov. Aris. Akong pagsalig niya tungod sa iyang amahan. Walay involved og miltary ug police sa pag surrender, ” Erecre said.
