Missing passenger of Mama Mary Chloe found

The missing passenger of MV Mama Mary Chloe which caught fire and sank on Sunday was found alive in Hilongos, Leyte.

PO3 Louie Cundag, commander of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) – Ubay Station said Andy Tunacao, 32, a resident of Barangay San Juan in Hilongos, Leyte, was found alive in Hilongos, Leyte.

He was one of the 99 rescued passengers who were brought to Hilongos port.

“Nakalimutan niyang magpalista na isa siya sa mga survivor,” Cundag said.

PCG Ormoc said there were 99 passengers rescued who were brought to Hilongos, Leyte; 25 rescued passengers brought to Barangay Tugas in President Carlos P. Garcia (PCPG); and 34 Gaus Island still in PCPG.

The fast craft vessel MV Mama Mary Chloe, which was carrying 157 passengers and crew members, left Ubay port at past 11 a. m. on Sunday to anchor at the town of Bato, Leyte.

The ship caught fire around 1 p. m. until it sank.

At least one person died during the incident. He was identified as Adolfo Ranola, 57, a resident of Trinidad town, Bohol.
