TAGBILARAN CITY— Bohol recorded the fastest economic growth in Central Visayas in 2024, expanding by 8.8 percent, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose to P198.29 billion in 2024, surpassing the P182.22 billion recorded in 2023 and the 6.5 percent growth achieved that year.
PSA data show that Bohol’s strong economic performance was fueled primarily by the accommodation and food service industry, which surged by 16 percent, reflecting the continued recovery of tourism and related sectors.
Following closely were public administration and defense; compulsory social security, which grew by 15.7 percent, and human health and social work activities, which expanded by 13.9 percent—a sign of the strengthening public sector and health services.
Other industries also posted significant gains, including transportation and storage (12.0%), mining and quarrying (11.7%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (10.7%), and wholesale and retail trade (9.2%).
Meanwhile, more moderate growth was observed in real estate (2.9%), information and communication (3.1%), and education (1.2%).
Chief Statistical Specialist Jessamyn Anne C. Alcazaren of PSA–Bohol said the results highlight the province’s dynamic post-pandemic recovery and its expanding economic base.
