TAGBILARAN CITY – A group of Boholanos staged a vigil at Plaza Rizal from 9 p.m. Sunday until 2 a.m. Monday to mark the birth of the BBM Resign Movement in the province.
The gathering, which coincided with the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, was organized to express concerns over alleged corruption in government. Participants lit candles and displayed placards calling for accountability and reform.
Pat Ruiz, one of the organizers of the activity also issued an appeal for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to resign, saying his administration has lost the trust of the people.
They added that the September 21 vigil was only the beginning of a series of actions aimed at pushing for transparency, good governance, and the protection of public interest.
