MANILA — Sarah Discaya, president of Alpha and Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation, on Monday appeared before the Senate blue ribbon committee to defend her company against allegations of irregularities in government projects.
Discaya said her firm has ongoing flood control projects in Bohol, as well as in Romblon, Cebu, Bacolod and Zamboanga.
She stressed that all accusations hurled against her and her company are “false” and stem from a misrepresentation of her earlier statements.
“For the knowledge of everyone, St. Gerard and Alpha [and] Omega, we have been in the construction business for 23 years, so I would presume in the 23 years, we could earn,” Discaya told senators.
She explained that her remarks about the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were “spliced” from a video and taken out of context.
“It is difficult to collect payments from the local government, they spliced the video that was taken of me and just mentioned the DPWH,” she said.
Alpha and Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation was recently listed among the top 15 contractors identified by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as having secured the highest number of flood control contracts from the government.
