UBAY, BOHOL — Authorities seized more than P1.1 million worth of suspected shabu in a successful buy-bust operation in Ubay town on Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025.

The operation, conducted at around 5:32 a.m. in Purok 5, Fatima, Ubay, was led by the Municipal Drug Enforcement Team (MDET) of the Ubay Municipal Police Station under Police Captain Amelito Melloria, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Police arrested a 30-year-old unemployed man, a resident of Purok 1B, Poblacion, Ubay, identified as a high-value drug personality. Seized from him were around 170 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) estimated at P1,156,000.00.

Authorities used a genuine P1,000 bill placed on top of 33 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, amounting to P34,000, as marked money for the buy-bust operation.

Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) Director Col. Arnel Banzon said the arrest serves as a warning to those engaged in the illegal drug trade.

“The arrest of a high-value individual and the seizure of more than a million pesos worth of shabu is a clear warning that the Bohol PPO is relentless in its campaign against illegal drugs,” he said.

BPPO spokesperson Lt. Col. Norman Nuez commended the swift and precise action of the Ubay police, highlighting the crucial role of community cooperation.

“We commend the Ubay MPS for their orderly and well-executed operation. The continued support of the public is key to dismantling illegal drug networks in Bohol,” he said.

The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police urged the public to steer clear of any activity related to illegal drugs and to immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or barangay officials.
