TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL — A fire broke out along Tabaco Street on Tuesday afternoon, August 12, destroying two houses being used as boarding houses.

The blaze started past 5:30 p.m. and quickly spread due to the age and wooden structure of the buildings. Firefighters raised the alarm to second level before fully extinguishing the flames at around 6:45 p.m.

Mayor Jane Yap said the incident affected four families, or 17 individuals, with estimated damages pegged at P2.7 million. No injuries were reported.

The displaced residents are now staying at the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) evacuation facility.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Mayor Yap also ordered a probe into residential houses operating as boarding houses without the required business and fire safety permits.
