Dauis dominates BOHOLANA Season 4

INABANGA, BOHOL — The municipality of Dauis emerged as the big winner in BOHOLANA Season 4, the province’s premier costume design competition, held on Saturday night, July 5, at the Inabanga Cultural Center.

Dauis delegate Jacky Fe Tahakim Melencion stole the spotlight with her stunning ensemble, “Asuncion de Dauis Faithfuls,” a tribute to the town’s patron. Designed by Niño Rey Yugeng, the costume earned the Best Design Award and also won Best Photography, with visuals by Mac Gaso.

Taking first runner-up was Talibon’s “Abundayon Talibon,” worn by Rose Cabando and conceptualized by Othniel Porsuelo of Pureoffspring Studios. The entry also received the Best Videography Award.

Panglao’s “Hiyas ng Panglao,” designed by Christian Relator and presented by Kimberly Giroud, placed second runner-up.

A total of 14 municipalities competed, with costumes highlighting local heritage, culture, and history. Participating towns included Tagbilaran City, Mabini, Jagna, Duero, Talibon, Anda, Valencia, Ubay, Buenavista, Getafe, and Guindulman.

Winners received the following prizes:

₱50,000 – Grand Winner (Dauis)

₱40,000 – 1st Runner-Up (Talibon)

₱30,000 – 2nd Runner-Up (Panglao)

The Boholana segment contributes 10% to the candidates’ overall score for the upcoming Miss Bohol 2025 coronation night on July 19 at the Bohol Wisdom School Gymnasium.

This year’s judges included fashion photographer Garel Sison, creative director Josei Cuizon, and designer King Rosales.

Second District Representative Maria Vanessa Aumentado, honorary chair of the Miss Bohol pageant, opened the event and commended the provincial government, organizers, and creatives behind the production. She also acknowledged the strong support of local government units.

Governor Aris Aumentado, alongside provincial board members and other local officials, attended the event and awarded certificates to the winners and participants.

BOHOLANA continues to celebrate the artistry and identity of the province—aligning with Bohol’s status as the Philippines’ first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island. With reports from PIMO/JSS
