About 48 families or some 180 individuals have been evacuated in Candijay town, Bohol due to inclement weather caused by a low pressure in Mindanao.

The Candijay evacuees were from four barangays- Canawa, Panadtaran, Luan and Cambane– and mostly from low-lying areas that get flooded whenever the river overflows.

Jeryl Lacang-Fuentes, head of Candijay municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, said the evacuees were preemptively evacuated due to anticipated flooding in their areas.

They were brought to evacuation centers.

Mayor Thamara Olaivar personally checked the evacuees and distributed food packs and bottled water.

Pagasa said a low pressure area off Surigao del Sur which is now bringing rains over a wide area in the country may intensify into a tropical depression. With reports from Helen Castano
