TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL — A body in an advanced state of decomposition discovered on Thursday, July 24  in Barangay Bogtongbod, Clarin town, has been identified by relatives as 37-year-old Arnel Albit.

According to Staff Sergeant Peter Fuentes of the Clarin Police Station, due to the extent of decomposition, the lower half of the body had already detached. The remains were identified through personal belongings found at the scene, including a wallet, cash, mobile phone, and a voter’s ID bearing Albit’s name. His brother, a resident of Sagbayan town, Bohol, claimed the body.

The voter’s ID listed Albit’s address as Matalom, Leyte, but authorities from Matalom clarified that he had only obtained the ID for employment purposes and was not a resident there.

The remains were discovered around 7 a.m. by a local resident in a densely vegetated area. Police said the body was found hanging by a rope typically used for a hammock.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, investigators could not immediately determine if foul play or any struggle occurred. A post-mortem examination by the municipal health officer is expected, but an autopsy will depend on whether the family requests it.
