ANTEQUERA, BOHOL — A 37-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday evening, July 20, for engaging in illegal gambling activities in Barangay Bicahan, Antequera town.
The suspect, identified as Aisa Aleria Lamoste, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Antequera, was apprehended by elements of the Antequera Municipal Police Station around 7:40 p. m. during an anti-illegal gambling operation.
According to the police report, Lamoste was caught in the act of collecting and issuing bets for the illegal numbers game known locally as swertres.
Confiscated from her possession were marked and unmarked bills totaling P185 in various denominations, including a P50 bill marked with an “X” on the forehead of President Sergio Osmeña. Police also recovered a betting stub with various three-digit combinations for the 5 p.m. and 9 p. m. draws, a piece of carbon paper, a claim stub, and a black ballpen.
The inventory of the seized items was conducted in the presence of Barangay Kagawad Angeline Estenzo and documented using two alternative recording devices (ARDs) for transparency.
The suspect is currently detained at the Antequera Municipal Police Station, where appropriate charges are being prepared against her for violation of Republic Act 9287, which penalizes illegal gambling operations.
