PRES. CARLOS P. GARCIA, BOHOL — A delivery truck crashed into a sari-sari store in Barangay Pitogo here on Sunday morning, July 20, causing significant property damage and prompting the arrest of the driver.
According to the spot report from the Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when an Isuzu Forward wing van, loaded with 200 sacks of rice and en route to deliver to the municipal hall, lost control and rammed into the roadside store owned by 82-year-old Juanita Baculpo.
The truck, bearing plate number YCF698 and registered to Zaida Leona of Talibon, Bohol, was being driven by 28-year-old Michael Gurrea Dacayana, also of Talibon. He was accompanied by his passenger and crew, Jessegen Boyles.
Initial investigation revealed that while attempting to enter the municipal boulevard, the truck’s front left tire hit a roadside gutter, causing the vehicle to swerve and spin out of control. It then backed into and crashed into the sari-sari store, damaging the store structure made of light materials, a blue/black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle, one refrigerator and assorted store items.
Emergency responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Gurrea was placed under arrest, and the delivery vehicle was taken to police station for proper documentation and further investigation. Authorities are preparing appropriate charges against the driver.
