DANAO, BOHOL — Mayor Celeste Cepedoza-Lerion delivered her first State of the Municipal Address (Soma) on Wednesday, July 9, pledging to focus on financial management, health and social services, education, and agriculture.
The event, also the town’s 64th foundation day, attended by local officials, department heads, and residents, highlighted the administration’s plans to improve basic services while strengthening Danao’s economic foundations.
In her address, Cepedoza-Lerion announced plans to enhance the Danao Adventure Park with additional extreme rides and indoor attractions, aimed at boosting tourism and local revenue.
The mayor also underscored the importance of sustaining and improving local economic enterprises, which she described as vital for the municipality’s financial self-sufficiency. These include the maintenance and enhancement of the town’s public market, bus terminal, and waterworks system as reliable sources of income for the local government.
The administration is also pushing forward with solar energy projects in the barangays, a program started by former mayor and now Vice Mayor Jose Cepedoza, who also presented his administration’s accomplishments during the event.
Cepedoza-Lerion revealed that the municipal government is exploring hydro-power development in the areas of Kailangan, Kalimzone, and Concepcion by tapping bulk water resources to generate electricity and additional municipal revenue.
To support the town’s farmers and small businesses, the mayor said they are strengthening the point-of-sale (POS) systems to process and market high-value crops, encourage value-adding, and promote local entrepreneurship.
“As we grow, we recognize that we can only move as fast as our income allows. Therefore, let us support, protect, and patronize our local enterprises so we can generate more income for bigger, better projects in the future,” Cepedoza-Lerion said.
She also reiterated her advocacy for participatory governance, encouraging Danao residents to take part in shaping the direction of the town’s development.
