A gunfight ensued between suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and government troopers in Balilihan town on Thursday, March 9.
Soldiers clashed with at least seven “remnants” of NPA’s Bohol Party Committee, Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor, according to a report from the Bohol Provincial Police Office.
While implementing strike operation, members of the 47th IB sighted presence of communist rebels in Sitio Lusad, Purok 3, Brgy. Hanopol Norte, Balilihan.
The encounter happened at around 5 p. m.
The firefight lasted for about 10 minutes. The enemy withdrew in the area, while military troops still scouring the encounter site.
No fatalities were reported.
The village has more or less 30 families.
