Region’s No. 7 most wanted for murder nabbed in Tagbilaran

TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL – A 45-year-old man wanted for murder was arrested on Sunday morning, June 22, by a composite police team in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.

The suspect, identified as Jerry Bautista Lood, also known as Jereme Lood, is a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Bolod, Panglao. He was arrested around 9:50 a.m. along Tamblot Street by the Tracker Team of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, led by Master Sergeant Keen Vincent Adayo and Staff Sergeant Carlo Balazuela, under the supervision of Lt. Col. John Kareen Oliveros Escober, chief of police.

The operation was conducted in coordination with multiple law enforcement units, including the Bohol Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) PFU, RIU 7 Bohol PIT, PIU Bohol, Bohol Maritime Police Station, 702nd Mobile Company – RMFB 7, and the Anti-Kidnapping Group VFU Bohol.

Lood was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder, issued on January 30, 2025, by Hon. Josephus Adel Baterna, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 49, Tagbilaran City, under Criminal Case No. 29431. The charge is non-bailable under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code.

Police said the accused was properly informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. The arrest was video-recorded using two body-worn cameras in compliance with Supreme Court Administrative Matter No. 21-06-08-SC, which mandates video documentation in the execution of warrants.

Lood is now under the custody of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, pending further legal proceedings.
