The incident occurred around 3 p. m. inside the Alturas-Tubigon establishment. Benjie Authentico, 29, a security guard assigned to MCI under the Alturas Group of Companies, apprehended the teen after observing him conceal unpaid items inside a white bag and attempt to exit the premises.

Recovered from the minor were the following items:

Two (2) bottles of Blackwater Cologne (100ml) worth ₱150.00 each

Two (2) bottles of Casino Sanitizer Spray (30ml) worth ₱31.00 each

The total value of the items was approximately ₱470.00.

The minor was turned over to the Tubigon Police Station around 5 p. m. After coordination with the child’s guardian and management of the establishment, the guardian paid ₱4,000.00 to settle the matter. The minor was later released in good physical and mental condition.

Authorities reminded the public that while juveniles are afforded protection under the law, acts of theft are still treated seriously, and interventions are in place to guide minors in conflict with the law.

The case is being handled in accordance with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act and relevant child protection protocols.
