Panglao, Bohol — A former model and entrepreneur tragically died in a drowning incident off the coast of Panglao on Sunday, June 22.

Authorities identified the victim as Abdul Wallace, 39, the son of Vicky Wallace, proprietor of the popular Bohol Bee Farm. According to the Panglao Police, Wallace was spearfishing near Virgin Island in Barangay Poblacion on Sunday morning when the incident occurred.

Wallace, who was free diving without any breathing apparatus, reportedly struggled to reach the surface and drowned.

Police said Wallace and a companion had ventured into deeper waters using a pump boat before the incident. When Wallace failed to resurface, his companion tugged on the rope attached to his spear but received no response. He then sought help from barangay tanods (village watchmen), who immediately called for the assistance of divers.

After a two-hour search, Wallace’s remains were recovered approximately 28 meters underwater. Authorities ruled out any foul play in his death.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Chandrina Elluiska Schreurs, a former beauty queen and wedding planner.

In a heartfelt tribute, his sister Mellanie Wallace took to Facebook to express her grief.

“I still can’t believe you’re gone. You were my brother—not just by blood, but by soul. You had this light in you—so warm, so real,” she wrote.

“You made people feel safe, made us laugh even on our worst days, and loved with such a big, quiet heart. I wish I told you more often how proud I was of you… how thankful I was just to have you around. There’s an emptiness now that words can’t fill. But I know your spirit is free, and you’re watching over us. I’ll carry your memory with me every single day — in every laugh, in every quiet moment, in every bit of strength I find when I feel like breaking. I love you. Always, Do,” she added.
