TAGBILARAN CITY — A hot pursuit operation led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man who allegedly stabbed four drinking companions in Barangay Lobogon, Duero, Bohol, on Wednesday afternoon, January 28.
Police identified the suspect as Tanie Gaper, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Lobogon.
The victims were identified as Melvin Gaper, 28; Jocel Amorio, 36; Marvin Bernat, 17; and Jermy Escolaña, 44—all residents of the same barangay.
Initial police investigation revealed that the suspect and the victims were drinking together around 3 p.m. when an argument broke out, allegedly after they became intoxicated.
The suspect reportedly left the area with his sibling but later returned armed with a bladed weapon and challenged the group to a fight.
Gaper was the first to be stabbed multiple times. Amorio attempted to help him but was also stabbed. Bernat and Escolaña tried to restrain the suspect but were likewise wounded.
All four victims were rushed to Teodoro Galagar District Hospital in Jagna town for medical treatment.
The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after by responding police officers during a hot pursuit operation.
He is now in police custody as authorities prepare appropriate charges.
