Topnotch lawyer Jordan Pizarras, a congressional candidate for the first district of Bohol and known as Tigpanalipud sa mga Bol-anon, has proposed a motorcycle registration amnesty program aimed at assisting low-income motorcycle owners in the province and across the country.
Pizarras highlighted the financial struggles of many motorcycle owners, particularly those with motorcycles 175cc and below, who are unable to renew their registration due to economic hardships.
“We must give motorcycle owners who have been unable to renew their registration due to financial difficulties an opportunity to do so,” Pizarras stated. “Many of them struggle to pay their monthly installments, and the additional burden of LTO fees, insurance, emission testing, and other expenses makes it even harder for them.”
Under his proposed amnesty program, motorcycle owners who have failed to renew their registration due to financial constraints would only be required to pay 10% of their total registration fees to have their motorcycles legally registered again.
“For example, if the registration fee is PHP 1,400, the owner will only need to pay PHP 140, and their motorcycle will be officially registered,” Pizarras explained. “This initiative will greatly help our fellow Bol-anons who own motorcycles but have been unable to register them due to financial struggles.”
The congressional hopeful emphasized his legal expertise and dedication to creating policies that directly benefit his constituents.
“I have the experience to make this happen. I am well-versed in the law, and I will draft legislation that will serve the best interests of the Bol-anon people,” he affirmed.
The proposed policy is expected to gain support among motorcycle owners who have struggled with accumulating fees and penalties. Pizarras aims to formally push for this legislation should he secure a seat in Congress, ensuring that low-income citizens are given the opportunity to legally register their vehicles without excessive financial burden
