The province of Bohol reported its second case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, May 13.
Bohol Governor Arthur Yap made the announcement on Facebook, saying that one of the two raptriated overseas Filipino workers (OWFs) was tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Yap said the confirmatory result came on Wednesday, May 13, when Department of Health (DOH) regional director Jaime Bernadas informed him.
He said the other OFW tested negative.
Earlier, Yap said the two OFWs who tested positive was inconclusive and was thus retested.
The patient would remain in isolation in a quarantine facility.
Contact tracing is currently being done to determine who has interacted with the patient and also to contain the spread of the virus.
Ingon ang DOH, magpahigayon sila ug laing PCR test karong adlawa,” he said.
Yap said there is no news yet on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results of the tests made from 63 OFWs quarantined in Bohol.
The 65 OFWs arrived in Bohol last April 28. They reached their 14th day of quarantine on Tuesday, May 12, in three facilities in Bohol.
Another 51 OFWs arrived last May 9.
Yap appealed to Boholanos to observe strict social distancing and wear of face masks.
The province’s first case is a 60- year-old Chinese woman who went to Bohol last January. She was later discharged on January 31 after recovering from the illness.
