12 houses destroyed in Nocnocan Island fire

The fire that struck Sitio San Roque in the island-barangay of Nocnocan in Talibon town on Thursday morning, Aug. 8, 2024, razed 12 houses.

Nocnocan Island, with at least 1,900 residents, is celebrating the feast of San Roque.

Based on the initial investigation, the fire started in the house of Algen Rico, where some children were playing with matches, before spreading to neighboring houses.

Twelve houses were affected by the fire, some of them have recently been rebuilt after Typhoon Odette.

After the fire, employees of the municipality of Talibon were sent to bring food and medicine to those affected by the fire.
