Capitol, DepEd converge Boholano youth

The Provincial Government of Bohol and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bohol successfully conducted the Bohol Youth Convergence on July 5 at the Bohol Cultural Center.

The gathering aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to manage their responsibilities in their schools as future community leaders.

The Youth Formation of the School Governance and Operations Division, led by its chief, Dr. Wilfreda Flor, organized the event under the directive of Dr. Casiana Caberte, Schools Division Superintendent, and supported by Dr. Eduardo Ompad, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent.

With the theme “Embracing Global Citizenship,” 534 participants attended the event, which gathered over 400 youth leaders from various schools in the province, accompanied by their teachers.

Acting Governor Dionisio Victor Balite, and Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Lawrence Xavier Ancla, graced the event.

In his message, Balite shared with the youth to keep going beyond their aspirations, especially in developing more skills and professional development.

He emphasized that these experiences can give advantages, especially in employment, and can help alleviate poverty in each family.

“Ayaw (mo) kahunong. Everyday is a learning day. So kanunay gyud ta maghuna-huna for our future to always go beyond,” he emphasized.

Lope Hubac, Education Program Supervisor in Values Education, discussed “Filipino Values in the Context of Filipino Youth,” while Pastor James Famador tackled “Understanding Global Citizenship.”

The Bohol Provincial School Board (BPSB), under the Aumentado-Balite administration, warmly supports the education of Boholano students and DepEd Bohol for a smooth and effective educational system.

Meanwhile, PYDO will hold the annual ‘Pakigsandurot,’ where young leaders from the Sangguniang Kabataan, youth-led, and youth-serving organizations will gather on July 12-13, 2024 at Panda Tea Gardens Suites, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. (PiMO/ALT/JSS)
