Bohol will host the 2024 national conference of public libraries on April 23-25 at the Bohol Cultural Center.
The event is organized by the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) and the provincial government through the Bohol Provincial Library and Information Center (BPLIC).
In partnership with the Bohol Librarians Association Inc. (BOLAI) and Association of Librarians in Public Sector Inc. (ALPS), the conference is bannered under the theme, “Ikaw, Ako, at ang Pampublikong Aklatan: Higit Animnapu’t Limang Taong Pagtutugunan.”
Highlighting the first day of the conference are the opening ceremonies with special guests including NLP Director Cesar Gilbert Adriano and execom member Lilia Echiverri of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts – National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS), who is also the plenary speaker.
The three-day conference will consist of plenary sessions presided by Vida Aparicio, BPLIC librarian IV, Nicandro Pagaran, BOLAI president; Geraldine Guisando, NLP accountant; and Chad Aren Diaz, NLP librarian.
Other plenary speakers who will share valuable inputs are Easter Pablo, ALPS vice-president; Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao, of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental; and lawyer Leney Layug-Delfin, state solicitor of the Office of the Solicitor General.
Completing the list of activities in the conference are networking opportunities, opening of exhibitors’ booths, recognition of monthly report completers, and a fellowship night.
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado will welcome the delegates from all over the country in support of Bohol hosting the conference that is expected to contribute to Bohol’s tourism industry, as envisioned in his strategic change agenda.
In promoting the island province as the first and only UNESCO Global Geopark, participants will tour prominent spots.
On April 26-27, as part of the post-conference activity, will be the book allocation of NLP’s affiliated public libraries in Luzon to be held at NLP in Manila. (PiMO/JSS)
