Bohol shortlisted in DILG’s SubayBayani awards

The provincial government of Bohol underwent validation for the SubayBayani awards, an initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado welcomed SubayBayani awards validators during a visit to the province on October 21- 22.

The validators paid a courtesy visit to the Capitol to look into the implementation of locally funded infrastructure projects.

The SubayBayani Awards recognizes the excellence of local government units (LGU),as well as DILG regional offices in the prioritization, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of such LGU-funded infrastructure projects.

Under DILG, the program also cites the demonstration of exemplary practices and performance of DILG Field Officers through the Subaybayan ang Proyektong Bayan (SubayBayan) portal.

During the visit to Bohol, validators assessed the implementation of the Concreting of Poblacion, Maribojoc-Pagnitoan-Candavid-Basak-Tabuan, Loon Road project.

Begun in 2017 and funded P101.9 million through the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP), the project was completed in April 2019. It is seen to have positively impacted the communities.

The validation team consisted of Assistant Regional Director Carmelo Enrique Libot of Region IX, Program Manager I Rogelio Ocampo of the Office of Project Development Office (OPDS), Engr. Junibe Froilan, president of the Bohol-Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE).

They conducted an inspection and interview of residents in the six barangays that are directly benefiting from the project.

They also underscored the stories of development shared by the communities because of the project.

Together with them were Jerome Gonzales, DILG Bohol provincial director, Rommel Correa, chief of the Regional Project Development Management Division (RPDMD), Korina Sanchez of DILG-7, Bernadette Camilo, CMGP Regional Coordinator, and Geralyn Corona, along with engineers of the three congressional districts.

Also with them were the dean of colleges of the Bohol Island State University, the University of Bohol, the Bohol Institute of Technology-International College, Holy Name University, and representatives from non-government organizations.

The provincial Government of Bohol became a nominee for the SubayBayani Awards, being a top performer along with 144 cities, municipalities, and provinces in Siquijor and Negros Oriental.

LGU Corella is also among the nominees for the awards.

The SubayBayani key metrics for scoring include Timeliness, Completeness, Accuracy, Quality, Supervision, Administration and Governance, and Most Significant Change.

Aumentado tasked lawyer John Titus Vistal, PPDO head and Engr. Camilo Gasatan, PEO head, to facilitate the actual validation.

The SubayBayaniAwarding Ceremony is slated to happen on November 14, where 139 LGU exemplars as well as top performers from three cities, three municipalities, three provinces, and three regional offices will be showcased.
