Bohol will host the 39th National Convention and the 5th International Convention of the Cofradia del Santo Niño de Cebu on April 12–14.

The annual event will gather all devotees to promote devotion to the Señor Santo Niño in the Philippines and abroad.

The convention will be held at Holy Name University’s Barder Gymnasium.

Members of the 24 ‘Cofradias’, or confraternity in Bohol will welcome the statue of Señor Santo Niño, which will arrive on April 11 via Tubigon seaport to St. Joseph Cathedral in Tagbilaran City.

The three-day event covers the convention proper with activities under the theme, “Señor Santo Niño; Magnet of Love in the Synodal Church”.

Scheduled activities include welcoming and honoring ceremonies, holy masses, cultural performances, talks, novenas, public venerations, and outreach projects.

Several concerns were discussed during the second coordination meeting held last March 20 at the Capitol along with members from Cofradia Bohol chapters.

The meeting tackled security, logistics, safety, and traffic situations.

The provincial government, under Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, supports the religious sector in hosting international events to promote the province through various offices, organizations, and partner agencies.

These include coordination with the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, TaRSIER 117, and the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Office.

Last year, the 38th National Convention and the 4th International Convention of the Cofradia del Santo Niño de Cebu were hosted in the City of Mati, Davao Oriental, last April 20–23, 2023, with the theme, “Sto. Niño: Our Source of Peace in the Walk of Faith.” (PiMO/JSS)
